To deepen our compassion, the Zen Center offers a special evening ceremony during the Spring break of our class sessions - the recitation of the Liang Huang Jeweled Repentance, a liturgy comprising of ten scrolls. We invite all to participate.
The Liang Huang liturgy was compiled for Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty to relieve the intense suffering of his wife, Empress Chi, who, after a lifetime of anger, jealousy, greed, and ignorance was reborn as a python. By leading a virtuous and meritorious life, making repentance, and paying homage to the Buddha, the Emperor succeeded in having his wife reborn into heaven.
Through this opportunity of repentance, reflection, and forgiveness, we can cleanse the improper karma from the past and dedicate the extraordinary merits of this collective, multi-day repentance service to our loved ones, all sentient beings, and world peace.
Anyone can set up blessing and/or memorial tablets for special dedication during this period. Please contact the Zen Center to inquire for more information.
You are welcome to attend all or any of the evening recitations as well as
the special Liang Huang Jeweled Repentance Ceremony on April 24 .
* Recitation will be in Chinese. English translation of the Liturgy will be available.
