This seven day retreat will integrate focused study of the Surangama Sutra, meditation practice, and application of the Dharma. The retreat format will consist of at least four meditation sessions a day, sutra lectures and discussions, and applying them through activities (volunteering and special topic sessions).
1. Local participants: Zen Center Level II class required;non-local: consideration based on prior Buddhist experience, please describe clearly on the application form. 2. Participants must attend all seven days.
Residence: Attendees from far distance may request for overnight stay in the dormitory. For local participants, overnight stay will only be provided for special circumstances; please request with explanation on the application.
Pre-registration is required. Space is limited; please sign up early. There is no charge to attend; voluntary donation is welcome. We also need volunteers! You may sign up to help out for one, two or more days.

*The Surangama Sutra (Léng Yán Jīng) is one of the most revered and influential Buddhist scriptures in Chinese Buddhism. Beautifully translated from Sanskrit into Chinese in the Tang Dynasty, this sutra has been used to verify one's correct understanding of the Dharma by Chinese Zen masters for ages.
