To deepen our compassion, the Zen Center will hold a special Compassion Liang Huang Jeweled Repentance Ceremony on April 24th, in addition to the evening recitation from from 4/19 to 4/23 and from 4/25 to 5/3 . We invite all to participate.
The Liang Huang liturgy was compiled for Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty to relieve the intense suffering of his wife, Empress Chi, who, after a lifetime of anger, jealousy, greed, and ignorance was reborn as a python. By leading a virtuous and meritorious life, making repentance, and paying homage to the Buddha, the Emperor succeeded in having his wife reborn into heaven.
Through this opportunity of repentance, reflection, and forgiveness, we can cleanse the improper karma from the past and dedicate the extraordinary merits of this collective, multi-day repentance service to our loved ones, all sentient beings, and world peace.
All are welcome to set up blessing and memorial tablets and/or other offerings. Please contact the Zen Center to inquire for more information.
* Recitation will be in Chinese. English translation of the Liturgy will be available.
